Video: Digital Literacy, Part 12

Teri Takai
State Chief Information Officer

December 14, 2010

MS. TAKAI:  Well, the state CIO played the role of convener by bringing together the experts in digital literacy, getting their best ideas and putting together a plan not just for today and the things that we need to do today and tomorrow, but a plan that will be sustained over many years to ensure we’re continuing to pursue this goal.

We brought experts that understand the technology, we brought experts that understand the educational impact, we brought experts that understand what has to happen from a labor and workforce development perspective, and we brought educators together to really define what digital literacy means for California, and then to set a plan where there’s accountability by each one of those groups in playing their part in making sure that digital literacy is a continuing effort in California.
